Generic version for Niaspan

Hi all,,

Does anyone know if there is a generic version or a substitute for Niaspan,,

Niaspan gets to be quite expensive..

Hi David

Niaspan is an extended release form of Niacin, a B complex vitamin. You could substitute Niacin but it wouldn't be extended release and probably wouldn't be recommended. In addition, with the cost of vitamins these days it might not even be any less expensive.

I take Niaspan and when I look at my cholesterol numbers I realise it is well worth the money. It has worked wonders that the statin drugs didn't.
