 Heart Transplant
Hi, I haven't been on in a long time. Just wanted to let you all know I had a heart transplant Feb.18,2010. I am doing great. No more icd. I feel so much better. I have been truly blessed to have gotten a heart before I got too sick. God Bless you all. Nancy

 Re: Heart Transplant
What a way to kick the ICD habit. I am so glad you are doing well. Remember once a member here always a member, ICD or not.

 Re: Heart Transplant
Nancy, I am both excited for you and a little jealous. How can I possibly be jealous of someone who has undergone a major operation you ask? Well I guess I will have to PM and ask a few questions. I will be going in sometime in the near future for a work up for a possible transplant. What I would give to be able to be healthier and not have this ICD, even tho I know that it is my protector. So happy for you....seriously. Wish I could be there to give you the BIGGEST hug!! Stay well and take care of yourself. I have a little guardian who watches over me in my Mended Hearts Support group. He is a heart recipient since 2003. You would NEVER know. I thank God for people like him, who encourage people like lil ole me! Blessings....

 Re: Heart Transplant
I understand the jealousy thing, too, a new lease on life! Not envy like wanting to take it away from you, but wishing we all could have that chance. My doctor and I discussed it and if I were younger I would definitely be a candidate, but I was told the cutoff is 62 and that's how old I am. Of course, the owner of the Carolina Panthers just got one at age 72 -- but there was a wink and a nod and the doctor admitted that where there is enough money, suddenly a heart is found for them.
I more than understand since they aren't growing hearts on trees, and wholeheartedly agree that a younger person should be a candidate before someone my age. Still, didn't this guy's money take away a heart from a younger candidate?
More medical moral dillema.

 Re: Heart Transplant
You don't have to be particularly rich to cut in line; no politician has to wait as long as a mere citizen.
