ON THIS DAY IN 1952

Post by Carl Portman » October 4th, 2018, 12:22 pm

The first external pacemaker was fitted to a patient on this day in 1952. Look how far technology has come. Look at what wonders medicine can provide. Personally speaking, whilst I absolutely loathe the fact that I have this uncomfortable unit in my chest I realise that I might not be here today were it not for that very thing. Onward and upward, I say. carpe diem.

In 1952 I bet they were so huge. And that’s when my father was 5 years old. And my mother not even born yet.

On this date in 2021 I hope to have a New deluxe ICD installed with Blue Tooth, cell phone music and gps all installed. Need the blue tooth so I can just say call home and get rid of the home monitor no more losing my phone. Music wired right in my hearing aids and gps so it can point my finger in the direction of home. I am sure I forgot something

Less than 12 months before I was born. I told you all the important innovations in heart health came into being just when I needed them. lmao4dx lmao4dx You can thank me all later. wavhi wavhi

When I first got my ICD BigRay, (CRT-D 2006) I was the joke of all the family gatherings. I won't get into details, but you could imagine what the male members of my family came up with what my battery was capable of powering. Maybe, I would like a phone charger in my next one, about 3 years away, so maybe that may be available.

It does amaze me that all of the stuff I have in my chest, the CRT-D, the new Valve, and the meds we now take for granted, which I have no doubt has kept me alive over the past 20 years, were not even available when I was diagnosed in 1999. What will be the future, I can only imagine how the next generation will benefit from what we are now learning.
