I was a golfer, pre- ICD. I have not golfed since my cardiac arrest and implant. My cardiologist said that it should be fine for me to get back " in the swing of things" so to speak, but I seem to be a bit fearful. I have this vision of my lead popping out. Are these fears unfounded? Any ICD golfers out there? If so can you share your expierience?

I golfed last summer, when I had an ICD. I had no problems...go and enjoy

I am left handed and have been playing golf for 2 months. I had a CA and the ICD implanted last August. I was worried being left handed with the icd on the left side but the cardiologist said go for it and I did. Start slow, I worked up to 9 holes and last week started playing 18. I lost 10-15 yards but am more accurate!!!

I visited a driving range a couple of months ago to get a form signed by my chaplain. He was there with his 20-something year old son hacking away at a couple of buckets of balls. I mentioned I hadn't swung a club since 1990, so he insisted that I whack a few... and except for one that I topped and two that I shanked, all of the balls I correctly hit went straight!

I haven't dared challenge the golf gods since that day. I know an unholy temptation when I see one. If I get out on a course again, having had that perfect half-hour of straight hits I know I'll never hit one straight again.
