Re: Behavior Changes After Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Dave, I think any time we're faced with our own mortality, it reminds us life is a gift and we are to make the most of it. I find when I make a point to smile at someone or say something kind or do something kind it makes me feel good. I even go so far as to look for the lonely person in the grocery...

Re: New to ICD recommendations

Getting an ICD does take more thought than you'd think. I am 47 and spent a month or so thinking about it before I agreed to do it. And my main motivator was my son telling me I couldn't die yet because I hadn't met my grandkids (they're not even pregnant). I hope I don't upset you, but I'm going to...

Re: ICD Removal

Okay, SpruceSniper, you've swayed me to your way of thinking. I admire your desire to improve your life and be an active member of society. Some things are worse than death, such as the long term feeling of desperation. So, if you simply turned the ICD off for now (which would also be more cost effe...

Re: Trying to work again

I understand the mental part of it. I feel like I have serious brain fog from the medications. I do accounting and find some days harder than others to keep focused on numbers. I also have found when I'm tired it's worse and I don't do stress well. It confuses things more. I used to like the pressur...

Re: OT: Birthdays

It is nice to be recognized for another year on this earth. I do, however, look at whether or not the person is active before posting a birthday wish. I believe it says when they were last on the site when looking at the birthday's for the day. If within the past two months, I would do it. Otherwise...

Re: Good news for those of us with ICDs!

Hahaha, SpruceSniper, your post needs to go under one of my originals posts titled Most Embarrassing Heart Related Moments (or something to that affect). Before ICD, I had gone to the emergency room because I couldn't catch my breath, after sex. I refused to tell the doctor what I was doing when it ...

Re: ICD Removal

Turning it off versus removing it would probably be the better of the two choices. As you already recognize, removing may not make it better at the site. I also have difficulty at the site when lifting over 40 lbs or so. And I would assume you could later turn it back on if you begin having more hea...

Re: ICD Removal

Would your wife rather have you here and alive or making more money for a shorter term? Sounds like you needed the ICD but a second doctor's opinion would never hurt. I do understand your frustration on the job front. Will your wife never work again? Can you join a trades union such as carpenter's o...

Sorry guys, I had to laugh, being from the US, I felt like I was reading a commentary on the Quidditch game from Harry Potter. No offense of course.

Re: difribulator recomended for CHF

Hi and welcome! I am 47 and have CHF. I received my ICD about a year and a half ago. I can honestly say for me, it has helped immensely. My heart is paced 100% of the time and the defibrillator is just a back up. I feel mostly normal now but it did take a while. We are happy to share info with you, ...

Re: Lifes a bitch and then your dog dies

Oh Bob, I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved dog. The stuff about you sucks too, but losing an awesome dog is just the pits. As you can see from my handle, I'm kind of into dogs. They run my life schedule. I've had a sinus surgery before, so I have some idea what you're talking about. When your t...

Re: OT/ Politics -Fugitaboutit. Lets talk food.

My first year post implant, I was extremely 'by the book' on my new low sodium diet. After a discussion with my cardiac team at my one year, I finally added pizza back in. Mind you, I do order thin crust, light sauce, with a little pepperoni, fresh mushrooms (not canned), and onion. I love food and ...
