I just got my Merlin@Home Wireless Adapter

This is so fantastic for me. I travel quite a bit and over time, I require more and more monitoring. Now I can take my Merlin@Home with me just about anywhere I go. I can even now consider getting rid of my landline. I don't suppose this will work in Canada or other foreign locations, but I am happy...

Re: St Judes Battery Performanc Alert

I thought I would post a follow up from my BPA experience. For me, I was glad to have been able to get my device changed out a little early. I don't mind my annual St Judes appointment showing me 6.9 years remaining now instead of 18 months. My insurance seems to be taking care of most everything. I...

Re: St Judes Battery Performanc Alert

Not every device experiences Battery Performance issues. If you are on regular monitoring, such as Merlin, they have an internal test that identifies the problem. Its the same way you get your battery checked in your car. They put a sudden load on the battery and observe how it recovers. The St Jude...

St Judes Battery Performanc Alert

So, for 6 years I have had a St Judes ICD for HCM. Yesterday, I got a call from my cardiologist office telling me that Merlin told them I had a problem with the battery. I am already due for a battery change in about 1 year. There is a lithium battery issue that has come up with devices the age of m...

Re: my new icd

You may not need drugs or a shrink. Maybe just a change of prospective. 10 days after I was told I was getting mine, a good friend of mine died of a sudden death heart attack. I started thinking that if he had "a little friend in his chest" that he may be alive today. Of course I went through a litt...

The Hyfrecator

I've have had my IDC since 2011. I put it in my google calander so it notifies me on the anniversary of my surgery. i just got the "ping" I have genetic HCM and though have never had a heart attack, I have had some signs that made me decide to get the device. I am now 63. I also have skin cancer in ...

Those Electronic Skin Zapping Hyfrecator Machines

So I went to the dermatologist the other day. He found a Basal cell carcinoma. It was on my arm about 4 inches from my IDC. Without thinking about it, he shot it with lidocaine and started cutting it off. I have had dozens of little things cut off of my body and have never thought twice. Then he too...

Re: New ICD

Going on my 4th year. I am in Park City skiing this year. I ski every season and just missed the year I had the implant. I probably could have skied but Dr wanted me close for three months after the implant so I stayed home. In my opinion, its not the implant that will prevent you from doing things,...

Re: New Blood Pressure Machine

Are those models where the display is on the cuff hard to read at that angle? I guess not, I see there are many of them. I always had the kind where it sits on the table. I lay in bed and put the unit on my chest and take several readings.

Re: Night Leg Cramps

Here's the latest: I was taking a lot of things. Niacin (2000 mg), Yeast rice Yeast (2000 mg), CardioB (50mg), Flomax (1 .4mg tab). Bystolic -10mg, Diovan 320mg. Most of the stuff was for treating high blood pressure and cholesterol. Diavon for blood pressure and the Bystolic as my long term drug of...

New Blood Pressure Machine

I have had this great Omron Intellisense blood pressure machine for many years. Unfortunately the display has started to show strange characters and I am in the middle of a RX change. I need to buy another one ASAP. Any suggestions? EBAY has several newer Intellisense units that look similar to the ...

Night Leg Cramps

I have been on Bystolic now for several years. Progressively I have developed severe night leg cramps. At the same time I was taking several other medications and over the last several weeks, I have been testing myself to see what might be causing the night leg cramps. I am now convinced it is the B...

Re: Concerns about my first ICD

Everyone here probably has a different reason for getting their ICD. For me, I had classic HCM. Enlarged heart. I had 90% restriction when doing the the Valsalva maneuver. I Never really had a heart attack. 10 days after I told one of my friends that I was getting an ICD, he died from sudden death h...
