Re: What is this?

Believe or not, I enjoy the same pleasant experience, most recently a week ago. Makes for an interesting day. Now admittedly there have been a few of these episodes where I regained consciousness to find my wife's hands still around my throat. But I suspect they are spasms. She needs a refresher co...

Re: OT Something Ironical about CPR

oral Yes, oral hygiene is very important! :runn: And so is having a positive outlook on life, especially finding things to laugh at and/or be thankful for. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/laughter-really-is-the-best-medicine-in-many-ways-thats-no-joke/2019/06/14/9f159208-8955-11e9-98c1-e945ae...

Re: when and why did you get your ICD??

My ICD story begins with my SCA in September, 2009. You can read my intro which was written on February 23, 2010: http://www.icdsupportgroup.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3&p=57099#p57099 Since then I've completed my chaplaincy training, got a paying job with a local technical college, and have joi...

Re: OT Something Ironical about CPR

When I first woke up fully in the hospital's CICU, they gently explained that the things that were hurting were the broken ribs from the CPR and the 1st degree burns were from the AED paddles. I have since been told that unless you're doing CPR on a small child or infant you should expect to break t...

Re: My Arrhythmia diary.

Colin...you do realize your post is buried so far in the depths of the forum that only a senior and resourceful idiot would ever see it, let alone read it. Congratulations though on your continued survival with amiodarone. So, Colin asked me to move this post into the current year. Strangely enough...

I’ve been in several bands and orchestras over the years, but never one like this!

Re: am I dead yet? ...

Well, you could change some of your goals to things like 'outliving the doctors that foretold your passing.' Just last week I learned that I'd outlived another one, our former family doctor (he was just 3 years older than I). And he was one who did everything right, eating and exercising properly. N...

Re: ICD / CRT Discharge Instructions circa 2011 AD

My first CRT-D was installed in September 2009, and lasted 5 years 5 months before the new one went in. That one's gone 4 years and 5 months so far and looks like it could last at least 3 or 4 more years as of the last checkup. Maybe they'll put in an Energizer next time? https://media2.giphy.com/me...

Re: Lots Going on in the ICD World

Thanks, Stella.

I've been wondering if the "publish or perish" demands of some universities are forcing some researchers to take the meta- shortcut. Doing an original study takes a lot of resources, especially time and energy.

Re: Lots Going on in the ICD World

So not to be a downer, bit your refrences are to say the least interesting. I've seen data and papers which contrdict those hypothesies. I don't have them close at hand but one example I read in a medical journal showed pacers and defibs are over diagnosed, and some 40% of patients do not benefit f...

Here it is, 2:30am and I've been up for an hour with no reprieve in sight. Wheezing and gurgling were more than I could bear so I decided to at least give my wife some peace. ... Funny, I was just thinking how peaceful it would be sitting on that park bench by the lake with Ozchrissy just enjoying ...
