Re: One foot in the grave.!!!

Just this week, I read an article that said they will sometimes removed an ICD or Pacemaker and recycle it in 3rd world countries where new ones are not affordable. Also said the battery is likely to explode when exposed to extreme heat....as in cremation. So they should remove it first... Which re...

Re: OT -- At Your Bedside

I understand this isn’t something we don’t talk about, but why not? I know I don’t want to suffer in death. And nor do I want my loved ones to suffer either. The Angels of Mercy might not be available when needed. None of this is easy and I apologize if I touched on a difficult subject....but we ar...

Re: OT -- At Your Bedside

I'm hoping to die because of an SCA, but when I was in the hospital right before I was to get my ICD, one of the nurses asked since the ICD would save me from another SCA, how would someone like me die. The doctor said it would probably be due to kidney failure or cancer...… if it does come to eith...

Re: OT -- At Your Bedside

In the end, I don't think we get a vote in how the final scene plays out. I just hope my exit is dignified and I am still smiling when they close the curtains on stage. Of course all those who love me will be present, that is to say I'll be alone. I do plan to haunt a few select members here for gr...

OT -- At Your Bedside

Each day I, like many seniors, start the day by checking the obits to see if I'm there. As I've skimmed over them I've noticed certain phrases repeated, like: Passed peacefully in his sleep Gained her wings last night Passed surrounded by her loving family That last one has me wondering how I want t...

Re: New News

Oh Ron, Pain is so unnecessary. I used to be the same, I would tolerate pain and wouldn't take anything stronger than a Panadol... The longterm implications of my tablets at the moment is not an issue, but if you can get a pain management plan to give you relief Ron that will not impact on your fut...

Re: New News

I've been told that whenever I'm in pain, whether I'm fully conscious or not, I tend to crack jokes. The funnier they are, apparently the worse my situation. Maybe if I learned to do drama instead I could end or avoid the pain?

Re: Gambling with Adrenalin?

Driving in Utah has kept my heart pumping. And that's even on the best days because the majority of Utah drivers don't signal anything . Throw in mountains and snowy days, and our roads become a demolition derby. This video was shot in the Salt Lake City area on flat ground! http://www.youtube.com/w...

Gambling with Adrenalin?

According to this article I might be able to take up riding roller coasters again! https://www.sca-aware.org/sca-news/are-thrill-seekers-with-heart-conditions-playing-with-danger If I'm reading rightly, the odds of being injured by a ride malfunction are higher than having a heart event! I'll probab...

Chrissy, I assume you're familiar with The Picture of Dorian Gray? Maybe you should have Robo do a magical portrait of you to take over the cancer and other ills coming your way... Or have you secretly done a self portrait?

Re: Lost my virginity to an ATP experience

Now, regarding the implications of ATP: I also had a few episodes early on in which my CRT-D decided things were getting out of hand and so used ATP to "calm" my heart. My EP put me on a Sotalol regime which resolved things. So, from my limited perspective (I no longer sit well above the road and ca...
