EF accuracy

I know that an EF calculated via an Echo can vary depending on who is doing the reading. I’m curious where nuclear PET scan’s stand in relation. Are they also an “educated” guess? How about an Echo done with contrast?

Re: that's entertainment...

Robo......did you have any "new" symptoms with Afib ? Mine was sudden leg weakness and SOB when bending over or climbing stairs. nothing really new just increased syncope (fainting) extreme fatigue, discomfort and confusion. I must say I was surprised I am now pacing in the right atrium which appar...

Some sad news for some

With some regret, I report ( CNN )If you're one of the third of all humankind who drinks alcohol, take note: There's no amount of liquor, wine or beer that is safe for your overall health, according to a new analysis of 2016 global alcohol consumption and disease risk. Alcohol was the leading risk f...

Re: BP Monitor recommendation

I bought the Omron 5. Omron has gotten good accuracy reviews, InSync's endorsement (thanks), spare parts are readily available (read cuffs) and the "pricing" appears reasonable if not comical. The 5 model stores more numbers and does it for 2 people. That seemed handy if I ever let someone else use ...

Re: BP Monitor recommendation

I went to Walmart and bought their 'off-brand' bottom line one for $30. Was going to do the Omron $60 fancy bells & whistles one with a Bluetooth connection that stores my last 200 readings. Then I read the iOS reviews by users that said it was a lousy app. And I decided I also don't need Bluetooth ...

BP Monitor recommendation

For some damn reason, my 15 year old Samsung Healthy Living monitor and cuff has started acting up and giving inconsistent readings. I'm paced 100% of the time at 70 BPM. I can go above that, but having a rate of 58 is extremely unlikely. So' I'm in the market. Any recommendations? Like a wrist vers...

Re: Welcome, Bruce Luedeman!

Insurance coverage, doctors and medical facility charges is too complicated an issue for anyone to answer. In the US, Leedur is quite correct, the subject of medical care is far beyond the analytical capabilities of the inhabitants. Move to Canada, the UK or any other civilized country and you'll g...

Donating your ICD, Pacemaker, iPad, whatever

I saw it mentioned elsewhere in a recent post (MyKidsMom) some curiosity regarding used devices. I heard of this program at the University of Michigan years ago and see it still has a web site including a 2019 copyright date. I assume they are still accepting donations although it appears they'd pre...

Re: interesting phenomenon

Frankly I'm burned out and ready to move on. Good point there. I mean if you haven't left your mark on history or been written up in Wikipedia yet, you're kind of just taking up space at this point. Now any of your known or unidentified offspring or even their offspring may still do something worth...

Re: Anybody have experience with portable ECG?

I was after the new Apple watch for the "fall down" feature. If the watch senses you've fallen and don't get up, it will call an emergency number for you. Don't know if there is a monthly fee although didn't think so. But you have to take the watch off every night to recharge it and you can guess wh...

Re: Anybody have experience with portable ECG?

After Christmas I spent a few minutes reading about the new Apple watch (#4) and a Kardia device working off your smart phone. SOunded like for now the cardiologists preferred the Kardia. Maybe Google "Apple watch vs Emay or Kardia" and see what happens.

Re: interesting phenomenon

Well I'm glad to hear you finally got the second opinion even if it's 12 years overdue. So if I recall correctly, they/you recently disabled your ICD defib portion. Does that also disable the ATP capability? I would think it would given the ultimate goal of ICD inactivation, but who knows given how ...

Re: Lost my virginity to an ATP experience

The feedback and discussion on ATP has been heartening. I feel so much more comfortable understanding why the clock on my ICD is incorrect, the implications of ATP, does ATP portend a dismal future, and so on. Superb. Minor unrelated thought: Is it beyond the scope of the admins to have phpBB possib...

Lost my virginity to an ATP experience

I picked up my first ICD in 2006. We didn't always get along and over the next few years, she took it out on me with several shocking events. In 2009 I had had enough and taught her a lesson getting a ventricular ablation. This has been wonderful and I can not say I've missed my daily doses of Sotal...

You have a foreign object in your body and it's trying to fight it
Probably explains all those headaches you've had for years.
